Labels and brands – perfect orientation

Familiar labels, such as Bio, IP-Suisse and Optigal, help consumers feed themselves healthily and with a clear conscious. Labels promise us a certain production and quality standard; they serve as a promise that our products meet our requirements. Half of all Micarna livestock is sourced from so-called label farms which meet higher animal welfare standards than are stipulated by law.  

Not only are the animal rearing rules defined more strictly than for conventional rearing, but the inspections by those in charge of the programme are more intensive. Label farms are regularly inspected by the respective organizations (such as IP-Suisse or Bio Suisse). In addition to those in charge of these programmes, the respective cantonal veterinary department is also responsible for farm inspections.

Among pigs, around 57.2 per cent of the animals originate from label rearing. 55 per cent are sourced from IP-Suisse farms and 3 per cent from organic farms.
